Centre of Elderly Citizens' Protection of Naoussa
The Centre of Elderly Citizens' Protection in Naoussa operates since 16/7/1982, has 1.900 members today and constitutes a very well organized social service of the Municipality. The Centre deals with the prevention of biological, psychological and social problems, collaborates and sensitizes the wider public and the responsible social institutions about the problems and needs of our city's elderly people. One of the basic intentions of the Centre is to activate its members through teams of self-activity. These teams are: - Team of lectures - literature
- Team of chorus - serenaders
- Team of solidarism
- Team of entertainment
- Dancing team
- Ergotherapy team
- Team of journalism
- Team of excursions
The services of the Centre (as social service, medicine, ergotherapy, physical therapy, familiar help), can demonstrate important effort: - The person in charge of the social service coordinates all services and interlinks the Centre with services of health and provision. This person offers familiar advisory and supporting social work. He/She collaborates with the teams and programs their activities.
- The Medical service of the Centre allocates a Doctor and a Nurse who provide preventively clinical examinations to the members, prescribe medicines and often visit incapable people at their houses.
It is indicatively reported that on average 370 retired people insured in OGA, 660 people insured in IKA and 10 people insured in other funds such as TYDKY, TSA, DEI, DIMOSIO etc per month visited the Infirmary of the Centre last year. All people who have been serviced were members of Centre. - On average 40 people per month visit the physical therapy service of the Centre. They are individual who have been referred to the service either by the Doctor of the Centre or an Orthopedist.
- The Ergotherapy team of the Centre realized an exhibition of women' handworks.
The activities of Centre are also framed with other activities as: - 1. Program of special needs care (as supervision of diabetic and hypertensive individuals).
- 2. Program of health enhancement - information in special subjects of prevention and healthy life.
- 3. Programs of common exercise in the gym of the Centre in collaboration with the Municipal Cultural Organism of Naoussa.
- 4. Programs of checking - measuring the osteal density (osteoporosis).
- 5. Programs of excursions and holidays (in Neoi Poroi, Vourvourou, Neos Panteleimonas etc).
- 6. Programs of spa therapy that is annually organized by the Ministry of Health.
- 7. The members of the Centre participate in the traditional customs of Vintage and Carnival in collaboration with the Lukeio Ellinidon of Naoussa.
- 8. In an attempt to mitigate the pain of children in Iraq, the members of the Centre collected money from their savings and sent them via banking account. They participated in the radio broadcasting of the local Radio station which was dedicated to children of Iraq.
- 9. Through the program of social attendance, the members of the Centre helped economically solitary individuals and after request bought the essentials for the commemorative dinner.
The Board of Directors is the supreme membership of this Public Entity which mainly modulates the strategy and policy and supervises and inspects the management of its finance. According to the Municipal Code, the Board of Directors is constituted by 9 members who are appointed by the Municipal Council and the Municipal Adviser Mrs Karuda- Mulona Maria has been defined as the Chairman.
